Welcome to Guitar for Absolute Beginners – Term 1, a relaxed and friendly 10-lesson course designed for those who have never played before and want to take their first step into the world of guitar. This term is all about getting to know the guitar, understanding the basics, and most importantly — learning to love the instrument. Whether you've always wanted to learn, or you're picking it up after a long break, this course will help you build confidence and comfort in a supportive environment. What You’ll Learn: 🎵 How to handle your guitar Holding and positioning your guitar the right way Getting comfortable with your hands and fingers on the strings 🔧 How to tune your guitar Using clip-on tuners or tuning apps Why tuning matters and how to do it confidently 🎶 Your first guitar chords We’ll focus on just three beginner-friendly chords: E Minor, D Major, and A Major Learn how to switch between them and use them in simple patterns 🎼 Strumming basics Downstrokes and simple strumming rhythms Tips to get your right hand moving naturally 💡 No scales or notation in this course We’re keeping it light and focused — no need to worry about music theory or reading notes at this stage 🎸 Getting to know your instrument Understanding the parts of the guitar What kind of guitar to buy (covered on Day 1 if you don’t have one yet) Additional Information Bring Your Own Guitar If you already have one, great! If not, please attend the first session, where we’ll guide you on what kind of guitar to buy — no need to rush before that. Format: 10 sessions | Each 40–60 minutes Offered in-person and also available online via Microsoft Teams Materials and basic handouts will be provided 🎯 This term is purely introductory At the end of this term, you'll feel comfortable holding, tuning, and playing a few chords — and most importantly, you’ll know if guitar is the right journey for you! 📝 Limited spots available. Cancellation Policy
Booking and Attendance Policy Full-Term Booking: Participants are required to register and make payment for the entire term in advance. Casual or drop-in attendance is not permitted for this structured course. Missed Sessions by Participants: If a participant is unable to attend a session, a separate make-up class will not be arranged. However, our instructors will make every effort to recap essential concepts from the missed session during the next class or via brief summary notes if available. Sessions Cancelled by the Organisation: In the rare event that a session is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances on our part, an alternate session will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time. Fee and Refund Policy Non-Refundable Fees: The course fee is non-refundable once the term has commenced. Exceptional Circumstances – Medical Emergencies: In case of a genuine medical emergency, a pro-rated refund may be considered. A formal written request must be submitted to the management team, supported by medical documentation. The management team will review the request and reserves the right to approve or decline the refund based on the validity of the reason provided. All decisions made by the management team in this regard will be final and binding. Mode of Delivery Sessions will be held in-person wherever possible. For participants who prefer or require remote attendance, online participation will be available via Microsoft Teams. Please ensure a stable internet connection and suitable audio setup for an effective online experience. Online participants are expected to adhere to the same level of commitment and etiquette as in-person attendees. Code of Conduct All participants are expected to arrive on time, be respectful to fellow learners and instructors, and maintain a positive learning environment. Tunes – A Musical Journey Inc. reserves the right to discontinue a participant’s enrolment in case of repeated disruptive behavior, with no obligation to refund the fee.
